Travel Information
Visa
All foreign participants should check whether they need a visa to enter Malaysia. Visa requirements depend on your nationality β citizens of many countries can enter visa-free for short business or tourist stays, while others must obtain a visa in advance.
Business Visits:
Foreign visitors entering Malaysia for business purposes (e.g., conferences, meetings) may receive a business visit pass upon entry as part of the immigration process if they are eligible for visa-free entry. Otherwise, you must obtain a Malaysian visa before travel through the nearest Malaysian Embassy or Consulate.
Digital Arrival Card:
Most foreign travellers to Malaysia must submit the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online no more than 3 days before arrival. This is a mandatory electronic form separate from a visa and must be presented to immigration authorities.
Official Invitation Letter:
If your visa application requires supporting documents, a formal Letter of Invitation from the conference organisers (e.g., after you register) can strengthen the application. Request this by emailing the Conference Secretary at icdsai@pdn.ac.lk once you have completed registration.
Important:
Carry a printed copy of your visa/entry approval and the Letter of Invitation when arriving in Malaysia, as immigration officers may request to see them.
Transport
Malaysiaβs main international airports serving Kuala Lumpur are Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2). Both airports are located approximately 55 km from the city centre.
π KLIA Ekspres / KLIA Transit
The fastest airport transfer to Kuala Lumpur city is the KLIA Ekspres train, which travels directly to KL Sentral in about 28β35 minutes.
π Taxi / Ride-hailing (Grab)
Official taxi counters and ride-hailing services such as Grab operate from both airports. A taxi or Grab ride typically takes around 45β60 minutes to reach Kuala Lumpur city centre depending on traffic conditions.
π Airport Buses (Skybus / Aerobus)
Budget-friendly coaches run between KLIA/KLIA2 and major transport hubs such as KL Sentral. The journey usually takes about one hour.
Tips:
If you are arriving late at night, taxis and Grab rides are available 24/7. Trains and buses operate according to published schedules, so checking timetables before travel is recommended.
